KALDESTRIP A900 is an anti-stripping agent for asphalt. It can be used in; hot and cold mix asphalts, on surface dressing roads and in asphalt emulsion production, in order to reduce the negative effects of humidity present on the surface of the aggregate and to reduce the effects of water which the coating is exposed to.

 

The quality of the coating is directly related with the quality of adhesion between the bitumen and the aggregate. In cases where there is poor adhesion between the bitumen and the aggregate there will occur strippings of bitumen from   aggregate,   which causes serious deformations on the coating finally.

 

The adhesion between the bitumen and the aggregate gains much more importance in the presence of water such as rain and snow.   In the production of hot and cold mix asphalt and surface dressing, if the aggregate could not be able to be dried sufficiently, the bond between the bitumen and the aggregate will not be strong enough and when the coating is exposed to rain and snow, the bonds between bitumen and aggregate begin to break and strippings start to occur from the surface of the coating which causes serious deformations and reduces the life span of the coating remarkably.  In order to prevent strippings, a good quality anti-stripping agent should be used such as KALDESTRIP A900.

Dosage

Dependently on the penetration of the bitumen, granulometric curve of the aggregate and the type of the aggregate, it changes between 0,1-0,5 %.
